About Our Courses

Here at the Center for Legal Aid Education, we have a full-time staff devoted to the design and delivery of high-quality and
replicable training programs. Working closely with expert volunteers, our training attorneys – all experienced legal aid lawyers themselves – distil a wealth of practical knowledge and knowhow into an extensive course development process. Best practices in adult education help to shape each course, and we create detailed curricula, learning objectives, participant manuals, and trainer manuals for each new course delivery.

We address the full range of advocacy, management and leadership skills that legal aid lawyers and staff need to successfully represent their clients. Moreover, sensitive to the unique demands of real-world legal services practice, our training programs always focus on concrete strategies and tools that make a real-world difference:

  • Handling crisis situations…
  • Working with clients facing multiple, complex issues…
  • Communicating with clients with disabilities, limited English proficiency, mental illness, or substance addiction…
  • Responding to rapid changes in substantive and procedural laws…

Not only do we know the terrain well, we know how to help you cover it more effectively.

We are also committed to being as accessible as possible to the entire equal justice community. Thanks to innovative teaching methods and cutting-edge technology – together with a talented team of expert faculty – we take great pride in making it simple and cost-effective to enroll in our courses, whether in-person or remotely through CLAE’s online campus.
