CLAE goes to Lebanon!

CLAE Board member Bonnie Allen trained 25 young Lebanese lawyers on legal aid values and skills during her five-week trip to Lebanon this fall. As a Legal Expert for the  ABA Rule of Law Initiative, Bonnie conducted the trainings as part of her assignment to help the ABA, local advocates and bar associations create a new legal aid center in Tripoli. The Center will deliver free legal services to indigent juveniles and refugees in civil and criminal cases.

New Workshop on "Difficult Conversations"

CLAE recently launched its new Difficult Conversations workshop with two deliveries for legal aid providers in Florida. Based on the ground-breaking work of the Harvard Project on Negotiations, workshop participants learn how to plan for and carry out conversations about challenging workplace issues or problems with co-workers or other people in their lives. Board Development: The Legal Aid Context

Working with the boards of Jacksonville Area Legal Assistance and Three Rivers Legal Services in Jacksonville, Florida, CLAE recently sponsored its first day-long workshop on Board Development: The Legal Aid Context.  Recognizing the critical role of legal aid boards of directors, the Florida Bar Foundation and Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation jointly funded the development of this new curriculum. Organized around eight key roles that legal aid boards fulfill and tracking recently promulgated ABA Standards of Practice and LSC Performance Criteria related to governance, the training focuses specifically on the legal aid context and the board's critical role in supporting and advancing legal aid program mission. Click here for more information about CLAE's new Board Development curriculum and training resources.

Mississippi Supervision & Management Training
