Fostering Affirmative, Broad-Based Advocacy
Fostering Broad-Based Advocacy was offered as an initial vehicle for supporting the NE legal services community's capacity for engaging in strategic, broad-based advocacy despite limited program resources. Our distinguished group of panelists – John Bouman, Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law; Joel Ferber, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri; Bill Kennedy, Legal Services of Northern California; Raun Rasmussen, Legal Services, New York City; and, Abigail Turner, Legal Aid Justice Center, Virginia -- provided concrete examples of broad-based advocacy within their programs especially during times of downsizing and suggested tips and strategies for fostering program-wide support for broad-based advocacy and overcoming potential barriers to such efforts.
